The Sisterhood of Congregation
Bnai David has increased its
activities on the war front. The
Red Cross unit functions each
Tuesday and welcomes women
experienced in sewing and knit-
ting. The unit is under the di-
rection of Mrs. Ely Cutler,
assisted by Mesds. Irving Ratner
and Samuel Ravitz.
The first aid Red Cross course
has room for a limited number
of women. The class meets on
Tuesdays, 8 to 10 p. m.
On Monday evening, Bnai
David Sisterhood will supply re-
freshments at USO headquarters
and will act as hostesses.
Mrs. Roy Chatlin is war activi-
ties chairman and Mrs. Joseph
Jacobs is president.

annual donor luncheon will be
held Jan., 19 at the Book Cadillac

Hertz-Lipset: At 1 o'clock on
Thanksgiving afternoon, the
Crystal Ball Room of the Book-
Cadillac Hotel was the scene of
a wedding of beautiful appoint-
ments, when Miss Beatrice Lip-
set, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Aaron Lipset of Tuxedo Ave.,
became the bride of Oscar Hertz,
son of Mr. and Mrs. David Hertz,
of Leslie Ave., with Rabbi Har-
old Rosenthal officiating.
Mrs. Donald Barris was matron
of honor. Donald Barris served
as best man.
Among the out-of-town guests
were the groom's sister, Mrs.
Louis Jaffe of Washington, D. C.,
Mrs. Anna Sakson of New York
City, Dr. E. M. E. Rose of Swarth-
more, Pa., and Pvt. Raymond
Rose of Lake Sovis, Ga.
The couple left on a short
honeymoon trip to the west, fol-
lowing which they will be at
home at 3753 Collingwood Ave.

Sofferin, of Boston Blvd. Mrs.
Hy Cramer was matron of honor
and Miss Faye Handelsman was

Adele Mondry, war effort
chairman, reports that $6,000
worth of bonds and stamps were
sold through the Pioneer Wom-
en's groups in this city. A call
was issued to members to par-
ticipate in the blood donors' bank

The Pioneer Women's Organi-
zation calls all Jewish women to
make a special effort to partici-
pate in the donor luncheon on

ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY
Staff _Sergeant Marshall D. Shulman, who is stationed with
the Army Air Corps at Fort Sumner, in New Mexico, was on a
brief furlough this week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry M. •
Shulman of Webb Ave. His brother, Leon., Charles Shulman, a
student at the University of Michigan, joined his brother in
Detroit for a two-day visit with the family.

Mrs. Harry Rosman of Boston Blvd. entertained at a bridge
luncheon Tuesday at the Book-Cadillac Hotel, complimenting -Miss
Florence Moss, who will become the bride of her son, Arnold H.,
on Dec. 27.
Rabbi Herschel Lymon, Miss Helen Spaber; Miss Molly Mat-
thews and Miss Esther Adler of Temple Beth El Religious School
are attending the annual Ohio-Michigan-Indiana Religious School
Teachers' convention in Cincinnati Nov. 26 and 27. Rabbi Lymon
opened the sessions on Thursday morning with the invocation.
Dr. Herman Kanter, who has been commissioned a Captain in
the Army Medical Corps, is now stationed at Camp Weingarten,
Missour.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman M. Snider and son, Harvey, formerly of
Oak Drive, are now residing at 18055 Warrington Drive.
Mrs. Harry Phillips of East Seven Mile Rd., is spending a few
weeks visiting with relatives in Chicago.
Dr. Hermann K. Sachs, who has been commissioned a Captain
in the U. S. Army Medical Corps, left on Wednesday for his post
at Camp Robinson, Ark.
Dr. Berncie Izner of Baylis Ave. is leaving on Sunday for
Brigham City, Utah, to spend two weeks with her husband, Captain
Irving B. Shulak, who is stationed at the Bushnell General Hospital.
