Bronislaw Huberman Given Royal
Welcome by Zionists of Detroit
Appears in Concert Sunday With Emma Shever; Founder
of Palestine Symphony Orchestra to Be
Honored at Luncheon Friday
Detroit branches of the Jewish National Workers'
Alliance this week converted into a holiday celebration,
all preparations for the concert by Bronislaw Huberman,
to take place Sunday evening at the Masonic Temple.
Honoring the great violinist for his contributions to
Palestine culture, as the founder of the Palestine Sym-
phony Orchestra, the sponsors of the concert welcomed

On Wednesday evening, Mr.
Huberman addressed the Thanks-
giving Eve rally of all the Far-

Continuing the chain of unin-
terrupted effort for the redemp-
tion of the soil of Palestine as
the inalienable property of the
entire Jewish people, the annual
Zion Tag Day will be observed
Sunday, Nov. 29, and scores of
boy and girl volunteers will sell
Zion tags in Jewish sections of
the city and by visiting homes
of Detroit Jews. Some of the
solicitors will commence their
activities on Saturday night.
Proceeds of the tag day will
be used for redemption of land
in Palestine for the settlement
of refugees during and after the
war.
A rally of volunteer workers
was held Tuesday evening at
the Rose Sittig Cohen Bldg.
Mrs. Morris Adler was the guest
speaker.
William Hordes, president of
the Jewish National Fund Coun-
cil of Detroit, has issued an ap-
peal to Detroit Jews to encour-
age the youth workers with
liberal contributions, thereby as-
sisting in land-redemption ef-
forts in Palestine. •
Thelma Jaffin is chairman of
arrangements for the tag day.
Headquarters will be established
at the Hadassah office, Linwood
and Davison.
An appeal in behalf of Zion
Tag Day was issued this week
by Miss Marion Apple, Jewish
National Fund chairman of Jun-
ior Hadassah, one of the co-

that are participating in Zion
Tag Day solicitations.

Mrs. A. M. Hershman's
Brother Dies in Cairo
The shocking news reached
here on Monday of the sudden
death in Cairo, Egypt, of Rehab-
iah Lewin-Epstein, brother of
Mrs. A. M. Hershman.
Mr. Lewin-Epstein, scion of one
of the best known Zionist fam-
ilies in the world, was on the
way to Palestine and other Mid-
dle and Near East communities,
on a special Zionist and U. S.
government mission.
The deceased, who was born
in Warsaw, lived for many years
in Palestine and was in charge
of the Carmel Wine industry. He
was an expert on economic prob-
lems in Palestine.
