SERIES AT CENTER
A discussion on. the problem of
India with a film based on the
same theme will feature the Jew-
ish Community Center Book Chat
and Film Series on Monday, at
8:30 P. M.
Alternating with the Book Chat
and Film programs on Monday
nights is a series of documentary
films. On Nov. 23, a series of
Russian war films will be shown,
including "For Honor, Freedom,
and Country," "Russia's Millions
Mobilize," "Russia Stops Hitler,"
and "The Red Army."
Admission is free to Center
members and 17d to non-mem-
bers.

THANKSGIVING DANCE
The second in a series of "Holi-
day Hops" sponsored by the
social committee of the Center
will be a Thanksgiving Night
dance on Nov. 26. There will be
prizes, refreshments and sur-
prises. Tickets are now on sale
at the Jewish Community Center
and Grinnell's.

Jewish women in Detroit are
offered a nutrition class from 2 to
3:30 every Tuesday afternoon, at
the Jewish Center.

The Red Cross Production Unit

FAMILY ACTIVITIES
Family activities on Sunday, 3
to 4 P. M., have been added to
the program of the health edu-
cation department of the Jewish
Community Center. The swim-
ming pool will be available for
children and their parents for a
mixed swim. American Red Cross
Life Savers will be in charge.
Full membership in the Center
is required for all participants
and juniors must be at least 49
inches tall in order to go into
the pool.
This activity is under the direc-
tion of Jack Morgan, swimming
instructor.

Mothers of Habonim
Plan_Dinner Dec. 6

The mothers of Habonim, la-.
bor Zionist youth, will sponsor
a community dinner at the
Workmen's Circle center, Sun-
day, Dec. 6. Meals will be served
from noon u.ntil late in the even-
ing. Habonim will wait on tables
and provide entertainment. -
The first meeting of the new
Habonim youth group will be
held this Sunday, at 8 p. m., at
the Farband Shule, 1912 Taylor
'Ave. The program will include
movies of Habonim activities, re-
freshments and dancing. Harold
Greenberg will preside.

Weinberg's Social Aid History
Highlights Jewish Book Week

Observance of annual Jewish Book Week, Nov 22 to
29, will be utilized to encourage the distribution of Samuel i
D. Weinberg's "Jewish Social Services in Detroit."
Published by the Jewish Welfare Federation of De-
troit, this volume which serves as a history of Jewish
social service agencies in our community, is the first volume

Zionist Organization of Detroit
by the large number of patrons
who have enlisted to support the
Balfour Ball to be held at the
Statler Hotel this Saturday night.
Abraham Cooper, president of
the organization, expressed satis-
faction over the results and stated
that the local organization will
be assured support for its educa-
tional program, its youth activi-
ties and other undertakings for
the current year.
