Ferguson is Praised

Joseph Kamil, well known De-
troit real estate man, this week
declared, in a statement to The
Jewish News, that he has learned
to respect and admire Judge
Homer Ferguson, Republican
candidate for the United States
Senate, and that he has the ut-
most faith in his spirit of toler-
ance.
"I am anxious to let our com-
munity know that in my 16 years
of friendship with Judge Fergu-
son I have found him to be fair
and square," Mr. Kamil said. "I
am prepared to vouch for his
integrity and to state to all that
Judge Ferguson . would never
knowingly hurt any individual
or ---Feople. On the strength of
my . quaintance with him, I
have no hesitation in recommend-
ing him for the position he
seeks."

Jewish Children
To Take Part in
Festival Program

The Jewish community will be
well represented when the Music
and Drama division of the De-
troit Public Library presents two
Children's Festival Friday eve-
ning concerts in the large audi-
torium of the Main Library, Nov.
6 and 13.
The first concert will be devot-
ed to the works of children under
16 years. The second program
will include compositions of early
masters and contemporary com-
posers, including Julius Chajes.
Grace Zechman, 'cellist; Mary
Carrick, pianist, and the Michi-
gan Symphony Orchestra, direct-
ed by Valter Poole, will be heard.

Cleveland Orchestra
Concert on Tuesday

Under the direction of Artur
Rodzinski, conductor, the Cleve-
land Orchestra will appear in a
program of music by Mozart and
Shostakovich, at the Masonic
Auditorium, on Tuesday evening.

Wittier, Yiddish Comedy
At Littman's Theater

With the eminent Yiddish ac-
tor, Ben Zion Wittier, remaining
in person on the stage in choice
selections from his repertoire,
Littman's Yiddish Theater, 12th
and Seward, has brought another
great Yiddish talking picture,
"The Great Adviser," for a
week's showing. The picture is
a comedy starring Herman Ja-
cobson and an able assisting cast.

Theater Guild Seeks
2,000 New Members

The Jewish Theater Guild is
planning a series of events for
the dissemination of its principles
and is proceeding with arrange-
ments for a drive for 2,000 new
members at $3 a year.

ganizations. Joseph Strugach,
well known actor, has appeared
before the Pinsker and Berdi-
chever and will be at the meet-

and Frank Mersky, president of
