Vaad Hayeshivoth
Explains Its Stand

to Article That Appeared
in The Jewish News

In a statement commenting on
reference to the campaign in
Detroit of the Telshe Yeshivah,
now located in Cleveland, which
appeared on the "What's Happen-
ing in Detroit" page. last week,
the Vaad Hayeshivoth declares
that "arrangements for drives of
this sort are made only after
thorough consideration in accord-
ance with well-established pro-
cedure by the Vaad Hayeshivoth
(Committee for Support of Yeshi-
voth and Charitable Institutions),
which is composed of all Detroit
groups, including a representa-
tive of the Jewish Community
Council."
•The statement proceeds to state
that the Telshe Yeshivah is not
a local institution, but that 85
per cent of the students are from
cities other than Cleveland. As
an example of its position, the
Vaad Hayeshivoth refers to sup-
port of the Cleveland Orphan
Home (Bellefaire) by the Detroit
Allied Jewish Campaign.
