Nazis Forbid Intermarriage in Ukraine
LISBON—Nazi authorities in the Ukraine have issued an order
forbidding intermarriage between Jews and Ukrainians, a Spanish-
language broadcast from Berlin heard this week reported.
A collective fine of 1,000,000 francs has been imposed upon the

American Jews to Send $2,000,000 Gift to Russian Armies
NEW YORK—A campaign to purchase and send 1,000 fully
equipped medical field units to Soviet Russia for use at the front,
each unit to cost $2,000, has been undertaken by the United Jew-
ish War Effort, it is announced by Dr. Stephen S. Wise, chairman of
the organization, and Dr. Joseph Tenenbaum, chairman of the ex-
ecutive committee. This special campaign, launched Oct. 1, is part
of the United Jewish War Effort's activities on behalf of American
Victory and Allied Relief.
Belgians Bid Farewell to Deported Jews
LONDON—Hundreds of non-Jews in the Belgian city of Saint
Trond crowded the station to bid farewell to Jews deported by the
Nazis to Eastern territory, the Belgian Government-in-Exile report-
ed here this week. As the train pulled out, a monk who was one of
the crowd shouted: 'Farewell, my friends. Have courage." The Nazis
started to insult him, but retreated when the crowd evidenced readi-
ness to defend him.
A fist fight between Jews and. uniformed Dutch Na7iq in a
synagogue in The Hague developed into an anti-Nazi demonstration
in which Dutch Christians joined the fighting Jews and ejected the

Nazis from the synagogue premises.
