Eleven organizations serving the needy in foreign
lands, the armed forces of the United States and local
charity will be included in the first united campaign of
the War Chest of Metropolitan Detroit, Oct. 26 to Nov. 12.
The goal of the campaign will be $5,800,000. The Allied

BERN—The official Vichy radio this week indicated that Arch-
bishop Saliege of Toulouse was no longer considered "persona
grata" in unoccupied France because of his denunciation of the de-
portation of Jews. Mgr. Saliege was "advised" over the Vichy radio
to leave the country.

France Deports 500 Jewish Children From InStitutions

GENEVA—Five hundred Jewish children residing in homes
maintained by the OSE, Jewish Health Society, in unoccupied France
were delivered by French authorities to the Nazis for deportation to
occupied territory in eastern Europe, it was reported here this week.
On the night of Sept. 2, French police raided the home for Jew-.
ish refugee children maintained by the OSE at Chateau Montintin,
near Limoges, and seized a number of adolescent children. The fol-
lowing night, the police again raided the premises, seizing smaller
children, including a two-year-old infant. Both groups of children
were deported to an unknown destination.

Vichy Confiscates Blum's Summer

Rome

The Paris radio this week announced that the summer home of
former Premier Leon Blum has been confiscated under the law trans-
ferring Jewish property to non-Jews. Blum's home was located in
Narbonne, unoccupied France. where pro-Jewish demonstrations re-
cently resulted in the arrests of thousands of "Aryan" Frenchmen.

American journalists on a tour this week of villages in the
Volga district found that many Jews who were evacuated by the
Russian authorities from Kiev, Zhitomir and other Ukrainian cities
which are now under Nazi occupation, feel very much at home on
the collective farms in the Saratov and Kuibyshev districts here.

Nazis Execute 95 Jews in Toropetz

Ninety-five Jews, including 15 children ranging in age from one
to thirteen, were executed in the Russian town of Toropetz, in Kalin-
