Hadassah Increases
Honor Roll Efforts

Mrs. Ezra Shapiro of Cleveland
addressed the first meeting of
the year of Detroit chapter of
Hadassah and described latest
developments in Palestine, espe-
cially women's participation in
the war efforts.
Mrs. Shapiro called upon De-
troit women to support the Ha-
dassah Honor Roll campaign
which will culminate on Oct. 26.
On Sept. 29, a meeting of the
Honor Roll committee will be
held at the home of Mrs. Abra-
ham Srere, 1245 Chicago Blvd.
Mrs. Morris Adler will be the
speaker.
Mrs. Philip Lipson has arrang-
ed the following neighborhood
teas for Sept. 23, with the follow-
ing hostesses and speakers:

Hyman Altman's Jewish Radio
Hour on Monday evening heard
a New Year's message from Con-
gressman John D. Dingell to the
Jews of Detroit.
This Saturday night and Sun-
day, Altman's Hours on Station
WJLB will feature selections by
Aaran—Lebedeff, eminent actor
who is making personal appear-
ances at Littman's Yiddish Peo-
ple's Theater.
On the Sunday noon broadcast
an address to the Jews of Mich-
igan on the eve of the Day of
Atonement will be delivered by
Governor Murray D. VanWag-
oner.

Saul Rabino, Artist,
Is Guest in Detroit

Saul Rabino, eminent Los An-
geles artist, is a guest in Detroit
for a few weeks' stay. He is
planning several exhibits of his
work.
During his stay here he can be

Mr. Rabino was born in Odessa
and studied in the Yeshivah of
that city. He studied art in the
Imperial Art School, later con-
tinuing his work in Paris and
Geneva. He returned to Odessa
in 1915, left for Constantinople in
1921 and came to the United
States in 1922.
Mr. Rabino has been honored
in California and other states
and has made a host of friends

throughout the land not only in

art circles but also in numerous
Jewish ranks, being an ardent

Advanced Classes
In Art Resumed

Plans have been completed for
the resumption of the advanced
art classes at the Jewish Com-
munity Center. Leon Makielski
again will be the instructor. Two
advanced classes will be conduct-
ed, one on Sunday at 10 a. m.
and the other on Tuesday at
7:30 p. m. The Sunday morning
class will hold its first session
Sept. 27, and the Tuesday eve-
