Activities In The Detroit Congregations',

Yom Kippur Calls Community
To Prayer, Solemn Meditation

Special Services, Ushered in by Beautiful Kol Nidre, Planned
for All Congregations; World Cataclysm Reflected
in Sermon Subjects

Provision has been made in all Detroit congregations
and in a number of specially-arranged auxiliary services
for more than 35,000 worshippers to participate in Yom
Kippur services, commencing with Kol Nidre on Sunday
evening and all day Monday.
At Temple Beth El
Yom Kippur services will be held at Congregational
Beth El as follows:

Sunday at 7:30 p. m.; Monday+
at 10 a. rn.; children's services
At the Bnai Moshe
Monday at 1 p. m.; memorial
Congregation Bnai Moshe will
service Monday at 4 p. M.

At Temple Israel

Stanislaw Schapiro, first vio-
linist of the Detroit Symphony
Orchestra, and pupil of Leopold
Auer. will play the Bruch ver-
sion of the Kol Nidre at the Yom
Kippuir E-Cie services of Temple
Israel. in the auditorium of the
Detroit Institute of Arts, Sunday
at 8 p. m. At the same service,
Miss Emma Shever, special so-
loist. will sing the Kaddish or
memorial prayer to the music
written for it by the famous
modern composer, Maurice Ra-
vel.
Y',m Kippur morning services
will begin at 10 a. m. Monday,
and the memorial service will be

young Israelite, and Rabbi Jacob

Rabbi Naphtuli Carlebach, and
Rabbi .M. E. Wintner, Torah Vo-
daath representative.
Daniel Birnbaum, vice-presi-
dent and Gabbai of the Joy Road
Synagogue, and President Gell-
man were in charge.
