preparations are now being made
for the publication of a volume
entitled "Menahem Ussishkin-
His Life and Work," written by
Prof. Joseph Klausner of the
Hebrew University, inti mate
friend and collaborator of Men-
ahem Ussishkin, which will be
issued on the day of the memo-
rial and distributed by the Jew-
ish National Fund of America
throughout the world.
An introduction to the volume
has been written by Dr. Gold-
stein. Interesting and intimate
details of the picturesque career
of the great Zionist leader will
be included in this volume. A
second volume is to be published
later which will include the var-
ious addresses and papers writ-
ten by Menahem Ussishkin.

NEW YORK (JPS).—Certain
mohelim have a "monopoly" on
circumcisions in New York City
hospitals due to political influ-
ence, while Jewish traditions and
the American principles of de-
mocracy are also being violated
to handicap the general run of
members of the Union of Mohe-
lim of New York, according to
charges placed before Mayor La-
Guardia by Union officers_
A heated meeting of Union
members heard various wielders
of the ritual knife assert that
unless a mohel has a concession
in a City hospital he is unable
to obtain admission to perform
his "holy work," even at the spe-
cific invitation of the father of
the male child. This, it was
said, is in contravention of Amer-
ican democratic principles, which
should permit American citizens
to obtain mohelim of their own
choosing. In many instances, it
is charged, city hospitals insist
on selecting their own practi-
tioner and do not admit others.
