Dr. A. S. W. Rosenbach, pres-
ident of the American Friends of
the Hebrew University, an-
nounces the election of Dr.
Emanuel Libman, consulting
physician at Mt. Sinai Hospital
and specialist in the field of in-
ternal medicine, as vice-presi-
dent of the American Friends of
the Hebrew University.

vision soldiers of the United Nations stationed in Palestine
are visiting Jewish colonies to view the wonderful work done

Dr. Libman, who will fill the
office left vacant by the death
of Dr. Solomon Lowenstein, has
been a governor of the Hebrew
University since its founding in
1925, is a director of the Amer-
ican Friends, and was one of
the founders of the American
Jewish Physicians Committee,
whoe president is Dr. Nathan
Ratnoff, head of the Beth Israel
Hospital, and whose secretary is
Dr. Tsrael Wechsler, professor of
neurology at Columbia Univer-
sity.

The Medical Center of Hebrew
University and Hadassah where
courses are given in tropical and
subtropical diseases, wartime sur-
gery and military medicine to
medical officers stationed in Pal-
estine. Hebrew University's meth-
od of fighting typhus has been
placed at the disposal of the Al-
lies. The typhus vaccine worked
out by University scientists has
proven of inestimable value in
stemming typhus epidemics

among forces in the Near East.
Members of the faculty as well
as students of the Hebrew Uni-
versity are engaged in active ef-
forts to aid the cause of the
United Nations. Reports received
this "week showed that 500 of
the university's students have
joined the British forces in the
Middle East.

The Hebrew University is one
of the beneficiaries of the De-
troit Allied Jewish Campaign.

Having made cooperation with
the In-Camp and Hospital Wel-
fare and Recreational Service
Program of the Red Cross one
of its major war service projects,
Bnai Brith is engaged in fur-
nishing and equipping company
day rooms at Army posts
throughout the country on the
request of Red Cross Camp
Councils.
