Here This Sunday
The preparation for the first
High Holyday season in wartime
will be the major theme to be
discussed at the quarterly meet-
ing of the Michigan Synagogue
Conference, Sunday, Aug. 9, at
Congregation Beth Abraham,
Linwood and Sturtevant. The con-
ference will be opened by Rabbi
JoSeph Thumin.
A speaker of the Office of
Civilian Defense has been in-
vited to address the Conference.
This meeting will discuss ar-
rangements for solemn assemb-
lies and special days of public
prayer emphasizing the import-
ance of a return to religious liv-
ing.
The meeting will open at 8:30
A. M.. with Shachris prayers.
Breakfast will then be served
by officers of Congregation Beth
Abraham, and at 10:30 a film
will be shown by the OCD deal-
ing with air raid protection
measures, followed by the bus-

ernter of Congregation Beth Te-
filo Emanuel, attended the na-
tional convention which was
held in New York at the end
of June.
A report will also be given
of the work of the Vaad Haye-
shivoth, the Sabbath move:nor -it,
and other committees of the
Michigan Synagogue Conference.
