"I'VE JUST BEGUN"
'Iris face was grim, fingers tense,
as overhead they soared.
:4 Japanese plane fell to sea—the
Lexington boy had scored.
A bitter cry arose from his lips,
As he whirled the gun around,
"I've just begun, ya' dirty rats
—," but a bullet nzuffled his
sound.
Ile - clutched his chest, fell to his
knees, as hot blood stained his
hands.
But he wasn't done, "I've just be-
guns muttered the lad from the
Texas sands.
Be pulled himself up, aimed again,
and weakly pulled the trigger.
A column cf smoke rose in the
t • sky, then his body began to
quiver.
The attack soon ended, enemy
I beaten, and his crew mates ran
to his aid.
Bis blood-stained fingers still
gripped the trigger, as his bud-
dies showered praise.
But there was no answer from
the grim smiling lips, as his head
rested on the gun.
He had died just after his second
blast, and after "I've just be-
gun."
