The Federation for Polish Jews
listened to an inspiring address
July 8 by M. Zarski, Polish
Consul in Detroit. He expressed
his conviction that New Poland
would be a democratic country
wherein discrimination and anti-
Semitism would find no foothold.
He was greeted by Isaac Finkel-
stein, chairman of the executive
board, and Benjamin Graubert,
executive director, who spoke in
Polish. -
Reports of the convention re-
cently held in Atlantic City Were
given by Mrs. Jennie Weinberg,
Mrs. Garelick and Graubart.
Miss Sara Gingold, accompanied
by Mr. Gruskoff at the piano,
sang Yiddish folk songs. Philip
limber recited a number of his
own essays.

he interned at Harper Hospital
in Detroit and later at General
Hospital in Buffalo, and for two
years was associated with the
New York State Health Depart-
ment. He is a membdr of Mai-
monides Medical Association of
Detroit and the American Medi-
cal Association. He is the for-
mer president of Detroit's Lea-
gue for Labor Palestine.

Artist Featured

Cola Heiden, pianist, and Lar-
ry Teal, saxophonist,- will pre-
sent the third program of the
Jewish Community Center's out-
door summer concert series,
_Tuesday, July 21, 8:30 p.m., in
the Center's courtyard.
Mrs. Heiden is well known in
Detroit both as a teacher and
a recitalist. She received her
musical education at the Amster-
dam Conservatory and the Ber-
lin State Academy of Music,
where she studied under Edwin
Fischer.
A concert saxophonist and
teacher of note, Mr. Teal is a
staff member of Radio Station
WJR and has appeared with the
Detroit Symphony and Philadel-
phia Symphony Orchestras.

To Be Observed

Rabbi Leon Fram will preach
Friday night, July 17, on the sub-
ject, "The Sabbath of Vision"
(Shabat Chazon). On Friday
night, July 24, Rabbi Fram will
preach on "The Sabbath Consola-
tion" (Shabat Nachmu).
While Reform Judaism orig-
inally ignored this season of the
commemoration of the siege and
destruction of Jerusalem, - the
more recent tendency is to parti-
cipate in the general Jewish sent- -
iment of sorrow over the loss of
Zion and hope for its rebuilding.
Rabbi Fram will discuss the
significance of the destruction
of the Jewish state and the dis-
persion of Israel among the na-
tions.
