The Community's Children

We have long recognized that a child is best cared
for in his own home, but when circumstances make this
impossible, a friendly community stands ready to supply
a substitute plan, approximating as closely as possible
the desired, natural environment.
The Jewish community of Detroit possesses a well-
organized and functioning child-care agency able to
provide individualized homes for our dependent children
who need such care away from their own families.
The selection of a home for placement involves a
thorough study of various factors such as income, corn-
position of the family, physical set-up, personalities of
the foster parents and their children, and numerous
other factors that have to be considered in order to

insure that the placement will benefit the child.

Some of these requirements have to be considered
as part of the rules and regulations of the State for
the licensing of foster homes, while others are more
