Witler Back
At Littman's

Appears With Star Cast in

"Home Sweet Home"

Ben Zion Witler, the popular
Viennese Jewish actor, is return-
ing to Detroit to appear here with
the Chicago company in his new
musical production, "Home,
Sweet Home", by H. Kalmano-
•itz. He will appear at Littman's
People's Theater, 12th and Se-
ward, this Friday evening, Sun-
day matinee and evening and
next Tuesday evening.
Co-starred with him in this
play are Detroit's favorite per-
formers, Rosa Wallerstein, Sam
Gertler, Henrietta Jacobson, Jul-
ius Adler, supported by an all-
star cast. Included in the cast are
Lein Kadison, Ola Schlifko, Anna
Kadison, Sarah Filler, Herman
Sheratzky and others. Oscar Os-
troff is directing the play.

City Clubs, Hancock at Second.

"Sleepy Hollow" Beckons
to Tired City Dwellers

As Mercury Threatens

With the mercury threatening
to stretch into the big numbers
and the many war time problems
adding to the strain of life, city
dwellers are beginning to cast
about for attractive places where
they may find relaxation either
for the duration of the summer or
for a few days' respite from siz-
zling heat.
Out U. S. 31 on the shore of
Lake Michigan just a mile south
of South Haven is a wild, almost
primeval ravine that has been
aptly named "Sleepy Hollow".
Here. on a 30-acre estate are lo-
cated 40 new, strictly modern all-
electric cottages of one to five
rooms, with sleeping porches. A
thousand-foot bathing beach, well
equipped children's playground,
tennis and handball courts, shuf-
fleboard alleys and many other
features add to the natural at-
tractiveness of this beauty spot.
Early reservations should be
made, Edward Gray, the pro-
prietor, advises, as the accommo-
dations are limited. A telephone
call to South Haven 860 will bring
full information.

THE ROAD BACK TO NORMAL LIFE

Sweeney Loses
Judicial Round

WASHINGTON (JPS) — Con-
gressman Martin L. Sweeney,
whose libel suits recur in the
news constantly, lost one of the
rounds when the United States
Court of Appeals denied his ap-
peal from the ruling of a lower
court in favor of Mrs. Eleanor M.
Patterson, publisher of the
Washington Times-Herald, who
had been sued for $250,000 for
having published one of the
Pearson-Allen columns charging
anti-Semitism to the Ohio Rep-
resentative. In the intervening
years since the suit was initiated
Mrs. Patterson has come to dis-
like Pearson and Allen as much
as the Congressman does, this
time because the columnists have
attacked pro-Axis publishers.
