My deer Rabbi Wise:

In these drys when Lanumnnity end cruelty

are taking toll of so many innocent victims throughout

the world, it is more than ever necessary for us to

unbeld the ideal of helpfulness to others. Organ-

inntions such as the United Jewish ...ripenl are giving

concrete evidence of the determination of free men

that persecution; homelessness. End racial discrim-
inetion shall be banished.

re cnn reinforce the humeniterian front as a vital
sector in our war effort. It is my sincere hope that
the campaign of the United Jewish Appeal will meet
with an enthusiastic response from all generous-

Challenge of the Moral Law

BY THE HON. HARRY B. KEIDAN
Judge of the Wayne County Circuit Court
Honorary Vice-Chairman, Executive Committee of the
1942 Allied Jevs ish Campaign

On this Shovuoth day of 5702, let us bear in mind
that the war in which the whole world is engulfed, is a
war betwen Sinai and Egypt. Ranged on one side are the
forces through whose hands the Ten Words
some day will be fulfilled, and on the other,
those dark powers which would root out of
the remembrance of man God, freedom,
justice, mercy and humanity.
As Jews. as Americans and as human
beings who subscribe to the 'teachings of

Judge Seidan

Sinai, we have at stake everything we have
tried to achieve in the past and all that we
hope to do in time to come.

It was natural that we Jews should

have been the first to feel the impact of Hitlerism and all
that that evil stands for. For it is we who stood at the
desert mount and heard the words, "I am the Lord thy
God who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the
house of bondage." It is we who were bidden to live in
accordance with the moral law—not to steal, not to mur-
der, not to bear false witness, not to covet, not to commit
adultery.

TWO MERCH ANT PRINCES

Julian H. Krolik and Isaac Shetzer are pioneer Detroit jmerchants.
But they are better known as the pioneer builders of a better life in
their community and for their fellow men. They are busy men—but
they are never too busy to render service when humanity's causes call
to them. Right now they are in the front ranks of the workers for
the Allied Jewish Campaign. and are producing results which may well
serve as an example for less busy and .younger men.
