Watch for the eventual elimin- ation from leadership of a num- ber of "big shots" in American Jewry whose bloods runs cold at the thought of giving decent mon- ey to philanthrophy this year. The "little-people", who have as much heart as these fellows have money, are going to rebel. AT RANDOM 15,000 Jewish boys and " 2,000 Jewish girls of Palestine may be in the British Army, fighting with the United Nations, but Pales- tine IS NOT AT WAR! Accord- ing to the United States Govern-. merit, Great Britain and her do- minions are co-belligerents but "Palestine and Transjordan" are neutral. That's because Palestine is a mandated territory under League of Nations control and without power to declare war. In fact, Palestine hasn't. Irving Berlin, who couldn't have raised a dime in the last war, is working almost -24 hours a day in the revival of "Yip, Yip, Yaphank," to open on Broadway on July 4 to raise $250,000 for Army Relief, he hopes. Warren WAteiAti AND PALESTINE The interesting Christian sect known as the Christadelphians has taken a touching stand on the question of Jewish aspira- tions to Palestine. They are backing our demands, are criti- cizing the attitude of the British government, are urging a change in England's policy. A Christadelphian publica- tion, THE DAWN, carries an article on Palestine in which historical facts are listed and Jewish aspirations enumerated. The article winds up with an admonition. The author, G. M. Clements, points out that things went bad with Great Britain in the last war. Then came the Balfour Declaration, and within a year the war was won for the Allies. "Similarly," writes Mr. Clements, "a change from the Government's present restrictive policy in Palestine might well result in a marked •improvement in Britain's affairs generally." An explanation is in order: THE DAWN is published in London, and Mr. Clements writes from London. Would that his admonition to Britain — and his prophecy — were heard, and fulfilled. • * • BUSINESS or INDIVIDUAL NO CHARGE FOR USE OF OUR CHAPEL TRinity 2-2114 LOANS ur Friends A ri d Ours II Enjoy Reading The Jewish News The ONLY paper that brings you all The Jewish news from all quarters of the globe . . . local, national and international. Gorelick, 35-year-old former chief orthopedic surgeon at Re- ceiving Hospital, was burned to death in a fire which swept the officers' quarters at Camp Grant, Ill. . Who are the -Gorelicks? Wil- liam Hordes, president of the Jewish National Fund Council of Detroit, provides the answer. Most of the Gorelicks came from the city known as Parich, in the Minsk Gubernia of White Rus- sia. The town had burned down, and the 'clan known by this name has retained its title from the word "goriet"—the Russian for "burn"; and all the Gorelicks are inter-related.
