(From top to bottom) Children being fed in Unoccupied France ; women registering for war service in Pales-
tine ; and a refugee boy being retrained in the United states. Throughout the globe the Joint Distribution
Committee, United Palestine Appeal and National Refugee Service—all represented in the United Jewish
Appeal for Refugees, Overseas Needs and Palestine—man the front of Jewish survival so vital to democracy.

r otal war for freedom means all-out aid for our people. Not only must American Jewry 'devote all its resources and
energies to our country's war effort. It is our special, sacred task to sustain our distressed brethren everywhere who are
the chief sufferers from tyranny, and among the leading supporters of democracy. In today's global war, neglect of
any sector may prove fatal to the entire effort. We must man the vital sector of lowish survival—among the millions
of victims of war and hate throughout the world—alongside the hundreds of thousands in the Jewish homeland in Pales-
tine fighting valiantly for democracy—with the many newcomers in America whose one thought is to do their utmost in
our common struggle. Thus, the United Jewish Appeal is a war fund for victory! Our Government, the:-American
people, and the whole democratic world look to us to fulfill that responsibility Through the United Jewish Appeal for
Refugees, Overseas Needs and Palestine. In this we cannot fail! It is part of our effort for total dernperatic victory!
