Conservattve
Young People
to Hold Parley

Young people of the Conserva-
tive Synagogues of Michigan,
affiliated with the United Syna-
gogues of America, will meet at
2 p. m., Sunday at Shaarey
Zedek to discuss formation of a
Michigan Regional Council of
the National Young People's
League.
Representatives of Flint, Grand
Rapids, Bay City, Saginaw, Ben-
ton Harbor, and from Beth Aaron,
Adas Sholom and Shaarey Zedek
of Detroit will point discussion
toward Eugene Matanky, nation-
al president of the Young Peo-
ple's League.
Ile will discuss the Mid-west
Camp Conference scheduled for
Aug. 24 to Sept. 3 at Camp
Ramah in Wisconsin.
Harriet Nochman and Soli Gay-
nor of Shaarey Zedek have taken
the initial steps in preparing for
this meeting.
Acting as hostesses at the social
hour which will follow the busi-
ness meeting, which is to be held
at the home of Edythe Ainbinder,
will be Madelyn Wairauch,
Shaarey Zedek Alumni; Renee
Korff, Adas Sholom, and others.

New Officers Installed
by Accountants Guild

The women's auxiliary of the
Accountants Guild installed the
following officers at its lunch-
eon meeting last Wednesday!
Mesdames G. Moscow, presi-
dent; J. Martin, vice-president;
William Pankin and W. Winchell,
secretaries; H. Shermov, treas-
urer, and B. Magy, I. Magy, J.
Linden and A. Schneider, mem-
bers of the board.

Young Israel Unit Bond Rally Set
Chooses Officers by Labor•Zionists

At the recent election of offi-
cers of the Young Israel Wo-
men's League, held at the home
of Mrs. Morris Subar of Fuller-
ton avenue, the following new
officers were elected for the
1951-52 term:
Mesdames Isadore Levin, pres-
ident; Herman K. Cohen, vice-
president and program chair-
man; David S. Bodzin, vice-pres-
ident; Mrs. Emil Spilman, secre-
tary; and Mrs. Charles T. Gell-
man, treasurer and donor chair-
man.

Meyer Brown, coordinator of
the Labor Zionist Bond Commit-
tee, will be in Detroit on Mon-
day evening, at the Labor Zionist
Institute to address a bond rally
of the Labor Zionist Movement.
Brown has long been active in
Zionist affairs, and at the pre-
sent time is president of the Far-
band Labor Zionist Order and
director of the Jewish Teachers
Seminary in New York.

Agudah to Hold
Meeting on Israel

A Sheruth League board meet-
ing was held at the home of Mrs.
Marvin Stearn. Newly appointed
board members are:
Mesdames Max Chomsky, Nor-
man Gold, James Goodfriend,
Samuel Hack, Robert Heydt,
William Jacobs, Harry Kellman,
Wilfred Katz, Julius Lumberg,
Harry Levitan, Jules Mehler, and
Norman Singer.
Mrs. Henry Brontman is ex-
officio a member of the board.
Mrs. Sam Chapin, camp chair-
man for Sheruth League and her
committee are finishing their
cases for the summer camping
proj ect.
Clothing has been purchased to
outfit each child going •to camp.
Twenty-three children are being
sent to fresh air camps for three
week periods.

A public demonstration for the
religious Yishuv in Israel will be
held at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at
Beth Shumel Synagogue, Dexter
and Buena Vista, by Agudath
Israel.
Speakers will be Elazar Ben
Arieh, director Kibbutz Kome-
miut; Melach Lipshitz, Detroit,
and Mr. Litvin, Mt. Clemens.

Farband Forms
New English Unit

Farband, LZO, has formed a
new English-speaking branch,
No. 558.
Officers to be installed Tues-
day at Northwood Inn are Jack
Abramson, president; Mar vin
Fuller, vice-president; Saul Rose,
Naomi Abramson and Barbara
Linden, secretaries, and ,Martin
Sorkowitz, treasurer.
Meyer Brown, national presi-
dent of Farband, will address the
group. The city committee will
be represented by Abraham Beit-
nor and Ben Harold, chairmen.

ed chairman for the year 1951-52.

Given Recognition

Sigma Theta Sorority of
Wayne University is now for-
mall; and officially recognized
as Sigma Theta Delta Sorority
and is affiliated with the Sigma
Theta Delta Alumni.
The new officers for the com-
ing year are: Shirley Sirota,
president; Susan Simon, vice-
president; Barbara Weiner, cor-
responding secretary; Bernice
Shames, recording secretary, and
Charlotte Schneider, treasurer.

Benson Ford, vice-president-
general manager of the Lincoln-
Mercury division of the Ford
Motor Co., has been elected
Protestant national co-chairman
of the National Conference of
Christians and Jews. He suc-
ceeds Charles E. Wilson, director
of the Office of Defense Mobili-
zation, who held the post from
1947-51.
Ford will serve with Thomas
E. Braniff, president of the
Braniff International Airways,
and Roger W. Straus, chairman
or The board of the American
Smelting and Refining Co., the
Catholic and Jewish co-chairmen
respectively.

shenson the Alumnae Group of
Alpha Epsilon Phi elected the
