The recent campaign of auto-
mobile burning, which was di-

Sabbath, also has been connect-

, ed with the Brith Kanaim.
The group distributed pam-
phlets for' car owners and sent
out letters warning against dese-
crating the Sabbath by driving
or playing radios. The strength
of the organization is estimated
at 200 or 300.
Brith Kanaim does not recog-
nize the Jewish state because,
it asserts, it is not built on a
biblical foundation. The organ-
ization believes that the re-es-
tablishment of the Jewish peo-
ple will come when the Messiah
appears. Some of the members
have gone so far as to move
across the border into Jordan
to await the Messiah's coming.
Although the bill requiring the
conscription Of women was adopt-
ed, its opponents have kept up
the fight. A group of extreme rab-
bis petitioned the Knesset to halt
conscription, threatening a "fast
and holy war" if their warnings
were not heeded.
