Detroit Zionist Organization
Re-Elects Lappin President

A. C. Lappin was re-elected
president of the Zionist Organiza-
tion of Detroit on May 3.
The membership meeting at
Temple Israel also marked the
opening of the Detroit Zionist
District's Bonds for Israel Cam-
paign.
Dr. Carl Hermann Voss, chair-
man of the executive committee
of the Christian Palestine Com-
mittee, was the guest speaker of
the evening.
Morris M. Jacobs, chairman of
the bond committee, gave an op-
timistic report on the early
achievements of the $3,000.000
'COD bond drive.
The following officers and di-
rectors were unanimously elected:
A. C. Lappin, president: A. Bor-
man. Albert Elazar and Dr. Louis
L. Kazdan, vice-presidents: Rabbi
Moses Lehrman, secretary; and
Ben M. Lewis, treasurer.

Halevy Concert Slated May 27

A program of 18 compositions
by leading Israeli and Yiddish
composers is being planned for
Halevy Choral Society's 26th an-
nual concert to be held Sunday
evening, May 27 at the Detroit
Art Institute.
The soloist will be Cantor
Arele Diamond, of New York,
who, at 29, has been acclaimed
as one of the leading tenors in
America.
He will sing selections by
Rumshinsky, Wilenski, Leon-
cavallo, Secunda, Weisser and
Tosti.
Dan Frohman will direct the
concert, William Gayman will be
the associate conductor and Bella
Goldberg, the accompanist. Tick-
ets are from $1.50 to $2.40.
