COPENHAGEN - (WNS) -A
Danish translation of a number
of short stories by Sholem
Aleichem, the Mark Twain of
Yiddish literature, has made such
a hit in this country that the en-
tire first edition was sold out in
record time and a new edition is
already on the presses.
Amazed at the reaction of the
Danish reading public to the
humor of the great Yiddisfi
classicist, M. Friedman, the trans-
lator, declared that the success
of the translation was another
confirmation of the universal ap-
peal of good humor.
Friedman is now at work on
translating another volume of
short stories by Sholem Alei-
chem.
