NT Auxiliary Head Slated Purim Appeal Pis

at Animal Goodivill Luncheon Slated by JNF to All Past Lodge Presidents
The fourth annual "Goodwill
Luncheon" sponsored by the
Ladies Auxiliary, Department of
Michigan, Jewish War Veterans
will be held at 1 p.m., Monday
at Kern's auditorium.
Featured speaker will be Mrs.
Minna D. LeVine, national presi-
dent of the Jewish War Veteran
Auxiliary. A member of the
Brookline, Mass., Post, Mrs. Le-
vine has for many years distin-
guished herself through her work
for Veterans' hospitals.
Guests at this event will be the
representatives of 25 women's
patriotic and allied organizations
including those affiliated with the
Wayne County Veterans' Council.
Another feature of the program
will be a dramatic monologue by
Mrs. William Greenwald.

The annual Purim appeal of the
Jewish National Fund (Shalach
Monos) will be held in all Detroit
synagogues on Wednesday night
before the reading of the Megil-
lah. '
Final arrangements for the ap-
peal were made at a meeting of
the synagogue committee of the
JNF. Representatives have been
assigned to each congregation to
assist in the appeal.
All congregation presidents are
urged by JNF to cooperate with
the workers assigned in order to
bring about maximum results.
The proceeds of the appeal will
be used for land redemption,
afforestation, road building, hous-
ing, irrigation and other projects
in Israel.
Israeli Leader and Kusevitsky
to Conclude Histadrut Drive
Akiva Govrin, chairman of the
Labor Relations Commission of
the Israel parliament and Hista-
drut leader, will be the principal
speaker at the closing demonstra-
tion of the Histadrut campaign on
Sunday, March 25, at Music Hall.
Moshe Kusevitsky, famous can-
tor, will present a musical pro-
gram. Rabbi Morris Adler, of
Congregation Shaarely Zedek,
will also address the rally.
Admission tickets have been
distributed to campaign workers
and representatives of affiliated
organizations and may also be
obtained at the Histadrut office,
Mizracht to Hear

The Mizrachi Organization of
Detroit will meet at 8:30 p.m.,
Saturday at Congregation Beth
Shmuel, Dexter at Glendale. Rab-
bi Samuel Preso will discuss the
recent upheayal in the Israeli
cabine.. The film "Lights of Free-
dom" will be shown.
Events in the Mizrachi move-
ment, the economic developments
in Israel and the bond issue also
will be reviewed.
A report will be given on the
Maimon visit here.
The Mizrachi office is now ac-
cepting orders for packages con-
taining food Kosher for Passover,
which are sent to Israel through
Ameic-American Israel Corp.
Orders must be given before the
end of this month.
Pisgah Lodge, Bnai Brih, will
hold a special program honoring
its past president at 2 p.m., Sun-
day at Young Israel.
Pisgah Lodge, which is the old-
est Jewish fraternal organization
in the state of Michigan, and the
second oldest Jewish organization
of any sort in the state, has listed
27 known, living past presidents
for special honor on that occasion.
The oldest past president in time
of service known to the commit-
tee 'which aranged the meeting
is Morris Garvett, who served as
president during the year 1918.
Ile was followed by Theodore
Levin, now a federal judge, who
in turn was followed by other
men who distinguished them-
selves in the Jewish and general
community of Detroit.
In recent years the Lodge in-
stituted the custom of presenting
the outgoing president with a
diamond Menorah pin.
Most of the past presidents
above listed served before this
custom was instituted and the
committee therefore arrange that
at this meeting all past presidents
who did not receive such pins

UHS Prepares
Bulletin, Slides
for Purim Use
A bulletin in Hebrew has been
prepared by members of the staff
of the United Hebrew Schools.
The bulletin contains the story
of Purim for pupils of the lower
grades of the elementary depart-
ment and also for the higher
classes.
The bulletin has been prepared
in mimeographed form and cah
be obtained in the main branch
of the United Hebrew Schools,
Lawton at Tyler.
Wednesday night, March 21,
has been set aside for the Purim
celebration of the high school,
Midrasha and members of the
staff in the auditorium of the
Rose Sittig Cohen Building.
A Purim program consisting of
appropriate readings, recitations,
unit singing and dancing has
been prepared. Refreshments
will be served.
A series of color slides repre-
senting beautiful and rare Megil-
lot from the collections Charles
Reinberg and Harvey Goldman,
has been completed by Yehuda
Golahny of the United Hebrew
Schools.

arrangements, announces the per-
sonal appearance of Georgie Price,
famous entertainer, as the feature
of the annual Patrons' Dinner to
be held, Sunday, by the Beth Ye-
hudah Schools at the Latin
Quarter, 3067 East Grand boule-

Dr. Joseph Kamenetsky will
speak.
Proceeds from the affair will go

Erdman Dance Group
to Perform March 22
A string of dance sketches of
gold rush days in Colorado fea-
tures the Detroit debut of Jean
Erdman and her dance company
Thursday, March 22 at the Art
Institute. The concert is spon-
sored by the dance consultants'

Kusevitsky, will conduct the Sab-
