between $600,000,000 and $1,000,-
000,000.
The manner of the relationship
is still undecided, but the cabinet
has voted to attempt discussion
with the Bonn administration
and to do this some form of
recognition must be given the
Germans.
Despite the reluctance of
Israeli officials to discuss the
matter it is apparent that a
delegation will have to be sent
to Bonn. The entire country is
united in hatred of the Germans
and the official government
policy of a "moral blockade" of
Germany if fully approved by
all parties.
However, attempts to collect
reparations and restitutions for
the occupation authorities in
Germany have been unsatisfac-
tory as the funds already paid
by the German Government to
Israeli citizens has been blocked
on the feeling that American
money which supports the Ger-
man regime should not be sent
out of the country.
The Israelis hope to arrange
an agreement with the German
Government whereby the block-
ed funds can be transfered in
the form of machinery, prefabri-
cated houses or other industrial
product which are needed in
Israel.
So strong is the popular feel-
ing against the Germans that
recently the government upheld
the censorship board's ban on
the use of the German language
for public entertainment and
Tino Rossi, French singer, was
forced to cancel a concert tour
because charges that he was pro-
German caused demonstrations.
