SPECIAL SEASON ALFRED STONE The Detroit Chapter of Ha- dassah is currently engaged in their annual "Minyan Month" activities under the leadership of the co-chairmen, Mrs. Nathan Spevakow and Mrs. Leonard Birndorf. Minyan, a technique of Youth Alliyah, of which Hadassah is the official representative in America, makes it possible for each Hadassah member to have an opportunity to participate in the Youth Alliyah movement of rescue, eitication and rehabilita- tion. By banding together, 10 women contributing $24 per year provide for the care of a child in Israel for six months. A joint meeting of all chap- ter and group boards will take place at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at the Detroit Leland Hotel, to hear the report by Mrs. Theodore Bargman, chapter president, of the Hadassah na- tional mid-winter conference in New York, as well as reports by group presidents. Midrasha classes are held every Wednesday morning, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Rose Sittig Cohen Building and are open to those desiring to learn Hebrew or to improve their knowledge of the language and the Bible. I asked her for her recipe and I am sure you too will find that they melt in your mouth. LEMON COOKIES Grate rind of one lemon Grate rind of one orange 1 3,:e cup of flour cup of sugar 1 egg 1 cup of shortening. Mix shortening and sugar well. Add lemon and orange rind, grated. Add flour which has been sifted three times to mixture. Then add the egg. Take a little piece of the dough and sugar your board. Shape into small ring.
