C arter CLIFTON AVENUE - CINCINNATI 20, 01110 Friday, December 8. 1950 DETROIT JEWISH CHRONICLE Page 7 HistadrutRally Making Donor Plaits Opens Drive for $300 ,000 The 1951 Detroit Israel His- tadrut campaign was formally launched Nov. 30 with a mass meeting at Northwest Hebrew Congregation. The drive is seek- ing $300,000 for Israel's labor or- ganization. The rally also marked the 30th anniversary of Israel's Histadrut. Speakers of the evening were Dr. Joachim Prinz, rabbi of Tem- ple Bnal Abraham, Newark, N.J., and Dr. Zalman Grinberg, direc- tor of the Beilinson Hospital near Tel Aviv. Dr. Grinberg emphasized that among the 250,000 immigrants of recent months a great many were medical cases and that the mass immigration had brought on a shortage of doctors, technicians and hospital facilities. Part of the money raised in the Histadrut campaign goes for the medical projects of the organization. Ku- pat Cholim, Israel's health insur- ance, is Histadrut's outstanding contribution to the reconstruction of the Jewish state. Dr. Prinz tried to tie in the critical world situation with the Histadrut drive. "Tomorrow may be too late," he warned, urging all campaign workers to do their utmost to make this drive a suc- cess. Histadrut, Prinz said, has shaped Israel's life along the lines of social progress. The training and rehabilitation of the new- comers could not happen with Histadrut's assistance and fore- sight. In fact, he said, there would be no Israel without His- tadrut. Morris Lieberman, chairman of the campaign, was in charge of the affair. Greetings were brought by Harry Schumer, chairman of the campaign's exe- cutive board, and Morris L. Schaver, - norary chairman.
