Home for Aged
to Hold Open
House Sunday
Residents of the Jewish Home
for Aged, 11501 Petoskey, have
invited members of the com-
munity to an open house cele-
bration, from 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday.
On hand to welcome guests
will be Myron A. Keys, presi-
dent; Sidney J. Allen, first vicv-
president; Gus D. Newman,
second vice - president; Arthur
Fleischman, secretary, and Max
J. Kogan, treasurer.
Visitors will have an oppor-
tunity to view the modern build-
ing which provides a home for
200 men and women from 65 to
101 years old. On display will
be examples of handiwork, rugs,
knitting and metalwork.

Kvutzah Ivrith to
Mark Hanukkah
The traditional Hanukkah cele-
bration of the Kvutzah Ivrith, the
Hebrew Cultural Group of De-
troit, will take place at 9 p.m.,
Saturday, in the Rose Sittig
Cohen Bldg.
The theme of the evening will
be "Maccabeans and Halutzim."
Participating will be Meyer
Mathis, chairman, Michael Mich-
lin, Morris Lachover and Israel
Elpern.
Abraham Schachter will lead
community singing. Refreshments
will be served by the Ladies Aux-
iliary of which Mrs. Julius Ring
is the president.

to Open AJC Memorial Drive to NEW Visit
YORK—Rabbi Judah L.
Judge Justine Wise Polier, na-
tional president of the Women's
Division, American Jewish Con-
gress and Justice of the Domestic
Relations Court of New York,
will inaugurate a drive in Detroit
to establish a memorial to the
late Rabbi Stephen S. Wise.
Judge Polier will speak at the
Lee Plaza at 2:30 p.m., Sunday,
under the auspices of the Michi-
gan Council, APC. Harry Nathan,
local secretary, will preside.
The memorial is in the form
of a permanent home for the
American and World Jewish Con-
gress on 15 84th street east Man-
hattan and will be called the
Stephen Wise Congress House.
The six and one-half story
structure will include a library,
as well as an assembly hall for
periodic conferences of scholars
and social scientists.
The community is invited to at-
tend the meeting.

United Nations decision in favor
of the creation of a Jewish State
marked "the classic turning-
point in the fortunes of Israel,"
Abba Eban, Israeli ambassador
to the United States, said at a
dinner here celebrating the 76th
birthday of Dr. Chaim Weiz-
mann, president of Israel, and
the third anniversary of the
United Nations decision which
led to the creation of the State
of Israel.

Group to Hold
Hanukkah Fete
The Young Adult Group will
be hosts to the entire Young
Israel membership at their an-
nual Hanukkah party on Satur-
day evening, Dec. 9, in the
Young Israel building.
Seymour Ribiat, president of
the group, reports that the eve-

talent, followed by traditional
Hanukkah games and refresh-
ments.

The purpose of Maimon's visit is
to help clarify the issue of re-

strengthen the religious bonds
which link American Jewry with

The first public reception to be
held in honor of the minister will
be a banquet at the Waldorf-
Astoria Hotel in New York City
on January 28.
Maimon will visit seven major
cities. He will be in Detroit Feb.
