NCJW Plans Movie Preview
to Obtain Resale Material

In order to support its Re-
sale Shop and to meet a quota of
$10,500 for overseas work, the
Detroit Section of the National
Council of Jewish Women is hold-
ing its one annual fund-raising
project.
The : general public is invited
to attend a movie preview and
prize party at 1 p.m., Dec. 4 at
the Royal Theater. A bundle of
clothes or bric-a-brac is the ticket
of admission.
Jackie Kannon, popular local
commedian, is giving his service
and will act as master of cere-
monies.
Because it is felt that the hope
of Israel is in its children, Coun-
cil's newest understanding is a
grant to the school of education

of Hebrew University.
Through this fund a superior
corps of teachers will be trained
and modern methods of teaching
will be continually provided.
Locally, the Resale Shop, un-
der the chairmanship of Mrs.
Stanley Akers, operates to help
finance Council's community ac-
tivities.
Mrs. Joseph B. Gaylord is fund-
raising chairman, and Mrs. Ar-
thur S. Purdy is in charge of
ticket distribution.
As chairman of the hostesses,
Mrs. David Wilkus has arranged
to have 30 Council members
model outfits which they will
turn over to the Resale Shop
after the Dec. 4 event.

MRS. NATHAN SPECTOR, co-
chairman of the annual donor
luncheon of the Sheruth League,
announces that ticket sales are
running 30 per cent ahead of
last year. The luncheon will be
held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesda3 at
Masonic Temple: Johnny King
and Dave Zimmerman of sta-
tion 1VWJ will act as m..sters
of ceremony, a "donor dutch-
ess" will be selected. Sheruth
League is dedicated to a pro-
gram of sending underprivil-
eged children to camp during
the summer.

Mrs. M. J. Kritchman, divi-
sional vice-president of the corn-
mission on community inter-1'e-
lations of the Detroit Women's
Division of the American Jew-
ish Congress, announces a study
group meeting of the commission
at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27.
A special matinee performance
of a playlet "Incident on a Bus"
will be the topic for discussion.
The dessert luncheon meetings
will be held at the following
area homes:

Plans Workshop

The Beth Aaron religious
school will hold a Hanukkah
workshop for the parents on
Sunday morning in the auditori-
um of the McDowell school.
At this workshop, Rabbi Ben-
jamin H. Gorrelick will speak
briefly on the meaning of Ha-
nukhah and the possibilities it
holds for making Judaism pleas-
ant and enjoyable for children.
Mrs. Betty Nutkiewicz, the arts
and crafts teacher of the Shaarey
Zedek Beth Hayeled, will pre-
sent a demonstration of various
arts and crafts materials and
how they can be made into
Hanukkah symbols by both
parents and teachers.
Bernard Panush, director of
the school, will preside.
The Beth Aaron religious
school 'also plans a joint parent
and teachers' celebration which
will be held in the synagogue on
