Cantor to Tell His Life Story

Bnai Brith Women will present
"40 Years on Broadway," starring
Eddie Cantor, Mrs. Lewis Man-
ning, president of the Greater
Detroit Bnai Brith Women's'
Council announces.
When Eddie Cantor, star of
stage, screen and radio, arrives
at the Masonic Temple for a one
night's appearance at 8:30 p.m.
Tuesday, he will present a caval-
cade of his 40 years in show busi-
ness.
He will tell of his long associa-
tion with such greats as Gus Ed-
wards, Geovie Jesse], Al Jolson,
Ted Lewis, John Barrymore and
others.
Two pianists, Dave Kenner and
Ernie Stewart, accompany Can-
tor in such familiar songs as No
Business Like Show Business,
Ida, Margie, If You Knew Susie,
and his now trademarked I'd'
Love to Spend Each Hour With
You, among other all time Cantor
favorites.
"90 Years on Broadway" is be-
ing brought to Detroit by the
Greater Detroit Bnai Brith Wo-
men's Council, which is composed
of 17 chapters comprising 7,000
women. Proceeds from the sale
of tickets and the souvenir book
will serve numerous Bnai Brith
Philanthropies and Detroit Com-
munity activities.
The fund-raising committee for
the Greater Detroit Bnai Brith
Women's Council this year con-
sists of Mesdames:
Samuel Gutterman, general
chairman; Ellis Fisher, program;
Alfred Lakin, tickets; Louis Bar-
den and Leonard R. Farber, ads;
Sam Gold, editor of ad book;
Louis Benson, arangements; Ellen
Goldberg, finance; Bernard Blie-
field and Bernard Goodman,
publicity; Samuel Bank, arbitra-
tion; Sidney Eidelman, assistant
secretary; and Miss Gertrude
Landorf, memoriams and dar-
lings.

Approximately 400 persons
heard B. J. Bialostotzky, noted
Yiddish author and lecturer, dis-
cuss "Jewish Literature Through-
out the Centuries" last Sunday.
Bialostotzky's talk highlighted
the Jewish Book Month program
sponsored by the Joint Yiddish
Culture Committee of the Jewish
Community Council and the
Jewish Community Center. Rabbi
Benjamin Gorrelick was the
chairman. The musical portion
of the program included selec-
tions by Joseph Becker, Zinovi
Bistritzky and Julius Chajes.
The next program to be given
by the Joint Yiddish Culture
Committee will be a Hanukkah
program, Dec. 3, in the Jewish
Comm unity Center.
The Center Dramatic Group,
under the direction of Moishe
Haar, will present two one-act
plays, especially prepared for the
occasion.
Joseph Haggai, who recently
returned from Israel, will speak
on "Hanukkah—Israel and Am-
erica."
