JWF Women's Group Elects
Mrs. Weiner Its Prsident

Mrs. Leonard H. Weiner was re-
elected president of the women's
division of the Jewish Welfare
Federation dt the division's fifth
annual meeting last Friday,
Other officers elected were
Mesdames Hyman C. Broder, John
C. Hopp, Harry L. Jones and
Julian H. Krolik, vice-presidents;
Mrs. Philip Marcuse, recording
secretary; Mrs. Alexander W.
Sanders, corresponding secretary;
and Mrs. Max Frank, representa-
tive to the board of governors of
the Jewish Welfare Federation.
The meeting voted to make
more explicit the article of the
constitution regarding member-
ship eligibility by defining a mem-
ber of the division as "Every
woman who contributes in her
own name to the women's division
of the Detroit Allied Jewish Cam-
paign."
Professional women contribut-
ing to the campaign are automati-
cally members of their own trade
or professional division. Any
woman whose husband contrib-
utes to the campaign is eligible to
join the women's division by mak-
ing a pledge in her own name.

The Women's American Ort
will hold its third annual antique
show Oct. 15-17 at the Lee Plaza
from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Ort, the Organization for Re-
habilitation and Training of dis-
placed and unfortunate people,
has been in existence for 70
years. It has given thousands of
persons vocational education
which has enabled them to earn

There are six chapters in De-
troit. The regional president is
Mrs. Arthur Bloom.
Heading the antique show is
Mrs. Joseph G. Fenton, with Mrs.
Jack Wainger, co-chairman. They
are assisted by Mesdames Joseph
Bleier, Arthur Bloom, I. I. Bit-
tker, Lewis Carlson, Ellis Fisher,
Hy Jackson, Herbert Kallet, Al-
bert Krohn, Harry Krohn, Chas.

to Address Rally

The League for Religious
Labor in Israel will play host to
Dr. Joseph Burg, first vice-presi-
dent and acting speaker of the
Knesset, at a public rally to be
held at 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct.
5 at Congregation Bnai Moshe.
The rally is jointly sponsorAd
by the League and the Detroit
Zionist Council.
Dr. Burg, a native of Germany,
Fettled in Israel 15 years ago. He
will speak on "Israel Today."

stockholders' meeting, the affair
featured reports by a special com-
mission, headed by 'Mrs. Julian H.
Krolik, on the local, national and
overseas enterprises of the wom-
en's division.
Sixteen women were elected to
the board of directors of the divi-
sion. Re-elected for a second term
are Mesdames Eugene J. Arnfeld,
Joseph G. Fenton, Saul A. Glueck-
man, Sidney M. Kalt, Leo S. Mel-
len, Emil D. Rothman, Nate S.
Shapero and Isidore Sobeloff.
Frst-term directors elected are
Mesdames Abraham Cooper, Stan-
ley Fleischaker, Seymour J.
Frank, Sander A. Hillman, Philip
Marcuse, Ben Mossman and Abra-

At a meeting of the Balfour
Ball Committee at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice A. Landau,
Lawrence W. Crohn, president of
the Zionist Council of Detroit,
addressed the workers for this
event.
Harry Cohen, chairman, urged
them to emphasize contributions
in the higher catergories.
The Balfour Ball will be held
Saturday night, Nov. 4, at the
Hotel Statler. Phil Brestoff's or-
chestra will furnish the music for
dancing, and the usual cocktail
lounge will be set up adjoining
the ballroom.

Detroit Post will hear Dr.
Max Rosenfeld at its meeting at
8:15 p m., Monday. Dr. Rosen-
feld has recently returned from

Hal Schneiderman has been
named supervisor of teen-age ac-
tivities in the Northwest Exten-
sion of the Jewish Community
Center, Morris Garvctt, Center
president, announced.
Schneiderman has d i r e c ted
teen-age work at the Center's
12th Street branch since 1949.
He was supervisor of the Center's
country day camp site at Pine
Lake this summer. He will be
