WASHINGTON — (WNS) —
President Truman was presented
with a sterling silver plaque by
the Zionist Organization of
America for the role he played
in the founding of Israel.
Presentation of the plaque,
bearing the inscription that it
was given to the President for
"his never-to-be forgotten part in
the founding of Israel" and for
his prompt recognition of the
Jewish state, was made by Ben-
jamin G. Browdy, president of
the ZOA.
Congressman Abraham Multer,
of Brooklyn, who accompanied
Browdy to the White House, told
newsmen that the President was
pleased at being singled out for
the honor and that he had asked
Browdy to pay his respects to
President Weizmann of Israel.
At the same time Truman was
reported to have taken note of
the current friction between Is-
rael and the Arab states and to
have expressed hope for a speedy
settlement.
