considerable help to program
chairmen who were planning
Jewish Music Month programs.
Hashofar's greatest achieve-
ment has been the Jewish Music
Month concert given by 45 mem-
bers of the Detroit. Symphony
Orchestra on March 5 at the
Scottish Rite Cathedral, in which
symphonic music by Jewish
composers was performed. This
was probably the first time any-
where that a major symphony
orchestra devoted an entire eve-
ning to Jewish composers.
It justly may be said that
thanks to Hashofar Jewish music
in Detroit has acquired a larger,
better prepared and informed,
sympathetic listening and singing
iudience.
Membership in Hashofar is
