Ex-Nazi's Visa
for Servicemen
WASHINGTON — (WNS) —
Karol Sidor, leader of many
Nazi organizations in Czecho-
slovakia during the Hitler re-
gim; has left the United States
following refusal by the authori-
ties to renew his temporary
three-month visitor's passport.
The Slovakian Nazi's presence
here caused a wave of complaints
from Se w is h' and Slovakian
groups and many protests by
N. Y. Congressman Arthur G.
Klein, leading to the Immigra-
tion and Naturalization Service's
announcement of expiration of
Sidor's pass to this country.
Mrs. Maurice A. Landau, iq
behalf of the Detroit Armed
Services Committee of the Na-
tional Jewish Welfare Board,
asked the Detroit Jewish com-
munity to extend hospitality to
servicemen away from home
during the High Holy Days.
"If we bear in mind Detroit's
nation-wide reputation for !
warmth and hospitality extended
to servicemen in the past," Mrs.
Landan said, "I know we will
not fail to open our homes
again."
Arrangements are being made I
so that servicemen may attend
services in the temples and syn-
agogues.
Anyone who wishes to open
his home to a serviceman during
the Holy Days may call Miss
Freda Zegman at the Jewish
Community Center, TR. 5-8400.
