City. Most Jewish lawyers are
affiliated with firms in which all
of the partners are Jewish. It is
harder for Jewish than for non-
Jewish graduates to be placed in
law. Jews take or get legal jobs
in private industry to a much les-
ser extent than non-Jews. Con-
trary to popular opinion, recent
Jewish law graduates do not go
into government work in greater
proportion than others. There is
a greater proportion of Jews than
non-Jews in the lowest-paid cat-
egory—salaried law clerks. A
greater proportion of Jews than
non Jews do not go into the legal
profession following graduation
from law school.
The Bureau has almost com-
pleted similar studies in business
administration and in accountan-
cy. It has ah;Q_begun a study in
chemistry. The results of these
surveys should be highly useful
to Jewish vocational service as
well as to anti-discrimination
agencies throughout the country.
Also noteworthy is a census of
Jewish professional workers,
This work will assume increas-
ing importance as we move into
an economic climate in which
young Jewish people will find en-
try into many professions, a for-
midable challenge.
The expected surplus of job
seekers in a number of profes-
sional fields, already evident to
some extent, will result in height-
ened discrimination against Jew-
ish applicants. The fact-finding
and group guidance programs of
the Vocational Service Bureau
will be tested as never before,

was to be a unique, fraternity of young Jewish men. Instead of borrowing its names from the alpha-
bet of the Greeks, This fraternity took its name from the language of the prophets. The officers as-
sumed Hebraic titles. The AZA Sabbath and Jewish holidays became significant events in the cal-
endar of the organization. Jewish ideals and Jewish values undergirded the program of the rapidly
growing youth movement.
