PHIL ROTHSCHILD

YOU EVER stop to read the
D o dedication
in a book? I be-

lieve one can easily tell the cali-
ber of a book by its dedication—
and sometimes this dedication is
better reading than the book it-
self.
A majority of the dedications
seem trite such as, "To my old
geology professor" or to my best
friend."
There's a novelist who dedicat-
ed each of his three books to his
wife—only each time it was a
different mate. Now his fourth
novel awaits a new bride.
