WASHINGTON—(WNS)—In a
45-minute interview with Secre-
tary of State Dean Acheson,
Eliahu Elath, ambassador from
Israel, struck out at the Arab
League as a menace to the peace.
He charged that the British,
who are sending arms to the
Arabs but denying them to Israel,
must be regarded as part of a
conspiracy against the peace of
the Middle East.
Elath called attention also to
the renewed role of the Mufti. He
said the Arab League has con-
sistently sought to „sabotage every
attempt in the direction of peace.
Elath declared too that while
Israel was striving for a just and
stable peace, she felt her first
duty was to protect herself
against Arab aggression. There-
