The check was presented to general chairman Mrs. Charles Gitlin by Mrs. Morris Kazdan, Souvenir Book chairman, at the group's annual fund raising luncheon and fashion show March 22 at the Book-Cadillac Hotel. Mrs. Gitlin in turn presented the check to the Auxiliary's pres- ident, Mrs. Irvin Weisenthal. The doctors' wives will use the 'money to provide two medi- cal scholarships at Wayne Uni- versity, to establish a medical scholarship fund at the new He- brew Medical School in Israel, and to supply artificial limbs for maimed Israeli veterans. • • • This year Maimonides will be able to double tha number of veterans for whom they will sup- ply the prosthetic appliances, and thereby make "life bearable for the disabled," Mrs. Kazdan said. Adding to that, Mrs. Gitlin pointed out that the money will help, the "maimed fighters of Is- rael become an asset instead of a burden to their community." • • • The 1,000 members and guests who attended the luncheon re- ceived bottles of toilet water as favors. The bottles hung like sugar plums on the centerpiece o; each table. - Following the luncheon, the ladies got a first hand glimpse of the latest spring fashions when Saks Fifth Avenue presented a show of designers' originals. cSociety notes Mr. and Mrs. Max Krieger of Edison avenue entertained guests from New York recently.
