STARTED AS CHILD Even as a child in New York City, which was her birthplace, while attending the First Shalom Aleichem school in this country, she studied dancing and pan- tomime which was included among other subjects in the cur- riculum. She supplemented this study with special courses in the classi- cal dance, studying under such teachers as Isadora Duncan, Dor- is llumphries and Michael Fo- kinc. But the classical dance was not enough fur her. The same • impulse leading LaArgentina' to give up ballet fur Spanish dan- cing and Shankar to leave Pasr-!
