Teen-Age
Sophisticates
By HELEN TENNENBAUM
TOGETHER and
W E ask GATHER
the Lord's blessings on
this Thanksgiving weekend of
1949. ,
Indeed we again have much to
be thankful for, and we should
not forget the great relief from
last year's tensions, which seem
to have calmed down considerably
in the last few months.
I
Here in this country we may
sit down to a table laden with
fragrant nourish-
ing food served
in the warm and
comfortable en-
vironment of our
homes or those
of our loved ones
and we can not
help, thinking of
the countless
peoples who are
still in desperate
Helen
need of food and
clothing which are to them the
very bare essentials of any ex-
istence.
Besides thanking God for our
own bounty we think that this
is a good time to add a prayer
for a lasting peace throughout
the world and pray that by this
time next year those who are in
need will have been fed and
clothed and given an opportunity
to provide for themselves and
their loved ones just as our par-
ents are able to provide for us.
•
• • •
BY THE WAY let's remember
those who are starving when we
eat our dinners, let's take only
that which we can finish and let's
ask our guests and families to
help us save food rather than
participate in the needless waste
of thousands of tons of food
which occurs yearly.

AT THE PRESENT TIME
throughout the city, certain
AZA chapters are in the process
of enlarging their membership
and various other a:pects of
chapter activities.
A typical example of such a
chapter, in the final stages of re-
organization, is the Albert Kara-
belnick group. This chapter, orig-
inally called the Bnai Moshe
Chapter, was up until several
weeks ago one of the less active
groups in the city.
But, as it happens whenever a
bunch of fellows get together un-
der the AZA banner, these boys
surmounted the overwhelming
odds against rebuilding a chapter
from scratch.
• •
FIRST ON THEIR COURSE of
rehabilitation was finding more
members. So, large pledge classes
were slowly absorbed until today
the membership is nearly 30.
Next on the agenda was choos-
ing an able president and adviser.
Benny Lusky, a long-standing
member was elected as president
and Fred Remer, an alumnus of
the chapter from way-back-when,
was chosen as the new adviser.
When word got around among
the other alumni, most of whom
are already married men, of the
predicament their chapter was in,
they themselves started to come
to meetings and lend a helping
hand where needed.
