DETROIT JEWISH CHRONICLE
Talent Is Rewarded
Israeli-Arab
Cooperation
Seen by Elath
NEW YORK—(Special)—Israel
and its Arab neighbors will
achieve cooperation despite the
political struggle between them,
Eliahu Elath, Israeli ambassador
to the United States, told the an-
nual meeting of the Ethnic Affairs
Institute.
Cooperation was not possible as
long as the Arabs believed' that
they could obtain by military
means what they failed to get by
political means, Elath added.
"After the Arabs have become
reconciled to the fact of Israel's
existence, the common interests
will come to the foreground," he
added.
Elath declared that Israel ,de-
sires peace and collaboration with
all its neighbors so as to be able
to devote all of its -energies to
the construction of the new State
and the absorption of immigrants.
Israel is inspired by the desire
to aid in the task of organizing
and managing the potential 're-
sources of the Middle East, he
concluded.
