The lie attributed to this age- old institution has long enough it ri- tated our Am er- ican sense of fair play. For too Ion g a time already has the fair name of the billiard e m- porium been as- sociated w i t h sin, vice and c or- ruption. Let us not be deceiv ed. It's all part of. Tendler a dastardly, i n- sidious plot, that's what it is. U n- less the American male is e x- tremely careful, he will lose a n- other of his sanctuaries. to t he crafty, but unscrupulous fam'a le. Borrowing a phrase from Wil lie Hearst, "Remember the Bowli ng • • • Alley." TT'S .4 Place to Relax ONCE THERE was a time wh en a group of men could troupe in to a bowling alley and act as m en should. It was a place of phy 5- ical exercise and emotional r e- taxation. The joint was delightfully d e- void of wimmin. Consequentl Y. when the 10 pin stood up and er the impact of a solid 1-3 hit, th e individual robbed thereby cou Id vent his displeasure vocally; a n outlet approved of by medic al men. incidentally. Or if the bowler "blew" a 5 pin, hz could hurl appropriat epithets at the maple so as to g et the uncomfortable incident out of his system and make for a bette r following frame. Homes Mustn't Enjoy THE SAME VICIOUS plot has been hatched against the pool- room. Vice? Bali! so much bal- derdash, and the wimmin know it. The point is that the male is enjoying himself too much in the poolroom, and according to the "gentler sex's" way of thinking. that shouldn't be. As far as the female is con- cerned, any place that a male en- joys himself with his own kind is an evil and must go. Transition'Atithor Gets Temple Post Fire With Fire SO NOW ONE of the last hide-. outs of the American male is be- ing threatened. "Dens of vice," is the shrill cry. Poppycock! It • just so happens that the corner 4 poolroom is one of the last locales available to the harassed male. We can hear it now: "My good- • ness, I had 47 points at one stage of the game and now you've made the 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 balls to win the contest, now isn't that some- thing!" If the wimmin take over the poolroom, then there seems but one logical thing to do, fight fire with fire. .We're going out and buy a Mah-Jongg set, Gen. We must clean out the bowlin g alleys and protect our sons an d brothers from the bookies, shill and lord knows what other evil lurk behind those closed doors the wimmin-folk cried. It all boiled down to the far that simply because the bowlin g alley was no place for a woman it was evil. The complacent mal of course was to stupid to se e what was happening. So, before he realized what wa going on, the issue was no longe r in doubt. The bowling alley was no place for relaxation "with the boys" any longer. Sgt. Morton A.
