LAWYER'S GUILD

LONDON — (WNS) — Yehudi
Menuhin, American Jewish vio-
linist who had earlier in the
week stated that he would not
give a recital here on the eve-
ning of Oct. 2, after he learned
that it was Yom Kippur eve,
has decided to play that evening
rather than risk a suit for-
cancellation of contract. The re-
cital is to take place in Man-
chester and is to be a charity
performance.
"Though he will give the con-
cert, Menuhin isn't happy about
it and hopes his fellow-Jews
will understand," his agent said,
The concert was contracted
for last March, but Menuhin
only recently learned that it
was Yom Kippur.
