Yeshivah Starts Drive Polish Jews
Deny Transfer

WARSAW—(WNS)—A denial
that Polish Jews were being de-
ported to Siberia was made by
a spokesman for the Polish gov-
ernment, following a broadcast
by the Voice of America, charg-
ing that such deportations were
taking place.
Leaders of central Jewish or-
ganizations here expressed sur-
prise at the report. The gov-
ernment representative declared,
"The report is absolutely false.
Everyone living in Poland can
testify to the fact that there is
no basis to the allegation."
(Voice of America may have
confused Poland with Ukraine
where, according to the Ameri-
can Jewish League Against
Communism, thousands of Jews
are being moved to Archangel
and Siberia. There has been no
confirmation of the League's re-
ports).

leave and his spirit seems to have
departed with him. The "Times'"
editorial, written on the occasion
of a conference of Middle-East-
ern experts in London, proposed
a solution of the Arab refugee
problem which was as sensible
and rcascnable as ever came
from England.
'READY TO MOVE'
It was that the bulk of the
Arab refugees, who fled from
their homes in Palestine during
the war, should be resettled
mostly in the Arab part of Pales-
tine, on the borders of, but not
within, Israel itself.
Aubrey Eban also sounded a
hopeful note, although with res-
ervations, when he said, at Lake
Success upon his arrival from
Israel, that the "Israeli delega-
tion at LaUsanne was ready to
move forward on the solid basis
of the armistice achievements,
with full authority to expand and
develop with greater precision its
proposals for final settlement."
