TEL AVIV — (Special) —In a
conciliatory move, the British
delegation at the financial confer-
ence with Israel agreed to the re-
lease of $6,000,000 raised in Brit-
ain for Israel.
The British chairman is the
minister to Israel, Sir Alexander
Knox Helm, while Foreign Min-
ister Sharett heads the Israeli
representatives. The talks are of
a delicate nature in view of the
recent hostility between the two
countries and the British requests
for compensation in fields which
Israel has refused to recognize.
ASK CYPRUS FEES
Israel has raised counter-
claims against Britain for the
activity of British forces in Pal-
estine. Britain is making claims
for •expenses incurred in the
maintenance of Jews in Cyprus
while Israel is countering with a
bill for their "illegal" detention.
Reports have been heard that
Transjordan is planning separate
peace negotiations with Israel in
addition to the Lausanne talks.
According to Sam Pope Brewer
of the N. Y. Times, the report is
"one more indication of the con-
tinuing disintegration of the Arab
League." '
REJECT U. S. PLAN
The government's foreign pol-
icy, as outlined recently by Shar-
ett, won approval in the Knesset
when the body adopted a resolu-
tion resisting outside political
pressure on Israel's lines of policy.
Solidly backed by the coalition
bloc, the resolution indorsed the
government's position on bounda-
ries, the Arab refugee problem,
the Jerusalem status and the holy
places issue.
This was tantamount 'to a re-
pudiation of the alleged insistence
by the U. S. government on large
scale return of Arab refugeees
and territorial adjustments.
The resolution also reiterated
Israel's policy of independence of
both the eastern and western
blocs, and criticized the eastern
European countries for blocking
emigration to Israel.
MRS. SOPHIE SISLIN of Club
1 Pioneer Women has been
awarded a trip to Israel in the
organization's member hip
campaign. The award was
made at the national conven-
tion of the organization in
Philadelphia. Mrs. Sislin is one
