Fear Arab
War Move

(Continued from Page 1)
July 18 was announced by the

United Nations Conciliation Corn-
mission under whose auspices the
negotiations have been going on
for close to two months.

STUDY 2 PROBLEMS

The adjournment decision was
reached after commission con-
sultations with the Arab and Is-
raeli delegations at which, it is
believed, the negotiators were ad-
vised to come with more con-
crete suggestions on the refugee
and territorial problems when
the talks are resumed.
Settlement of the territorial
problem hinges on Arab demands
that the Negev be partitioned,
with Egypt and Transjordan get-
ting the region east of the Beer-
shebah-El Auja road and Israel
getting the western region, in-
cluding the Gaza strip and the
estimated 200,000 or more Arab
residents and refugees in the
area.
One of the stumbling blocks
is the reported insistence of • the
U. S. that Israel give territorial
compensation to the Arabs for the
retention of western Galilee.
(Warsaw reported that the Zion-
ist Federation in Lodz had been
closed down by the Polish gov-
ernment. The organization was
founded to rescue abandoned
Jewish children and send them to
Israel. According to reports in
Warsaw, 13,000 Jews are seeking
visas to the Jewish State. Only
about 120 have been granted so
far, the reports say.)

A check of $2,000 was present-
ed by Louis Ellenbogen, president
of Congregation Beth Abraham,
to the Jewish National Fund at
the 14th annual dinner of the
Beth Abraham Free Loan Asso-
ciation.
Ellenbogen presented the check
to Irving Schlussel, president of
the JNF, on behalf of Congrega-
tion Beth Abraham, Beth Abra-
ham Free Loan Association, First
Galician Society 'of Detroit and
Beth Abraham Sisterhood.
In addition, a check for $1,000
