DETROIT JEWISH CHRONICLE

Thursday, June 23, lin

Carmel Rites Set .

BASEBALL season
W ITIE in THE
full swing, and football

set to take over in the late sum-
mer, it seems a
bit premature to
talk basketball.
Not so in the
Catskills, how-
ever.
The resort
owners in the
Borscht Circuit
have gone "all
out" in respect
to the cage
game. Although
Tendler they have
al a s h e d their entertainment
budgets 15 to 20 percent, the slack
has been taken up with the addi-
tion of many star hoopsters,
principally men from the sea-
board area.
George Mikan, leading scorer
of the Basketball Association of
America with Minneapolis, has
been signed on as athletic direc-
tor in one of the resorts for the
summer months.
