Teen-Age
In
Sophisticates
By HELEN TENNENBAUM
UMMER IS FINALLY HERE
with that long-yearned-for
vacation stretch that we've. all
been waiting for. Whatever you
do, we hope you have a verry,
-verrry, pleasant vacation and
that you will
let us hear from
you often.
We must ask
you to excuse it
if the informa-
tion you send us
in the next week
or two will not
appear in the
column as soon
as you send it
Helen
because your re-
porter is leaving for a two-week
vacation starting Sunday. Well
try our best to carry on from
the trip but we hope we find
loads of letters and cards waiting
when we return.

THIS EVENING the BBYO
-I- Council will hold one of the
most critical meetings in its four
years of existence. The delegates
must elect an administration
which will face squarely the prob-
lems of this relatively young
body, This council has the prob-
lem of solidifying the many
BBYO groups in Detroit.
The rank and file member must
become aware of the potential of
the council. This can be brought
about most effectively by an edu-
cational program fostered by the
new administration. It will also
be faced with the promotion of
the first Yom Kippur night dance
during a period of economic in-
stability.
Evaluating the success of the
past administration we can say
that many steps were taken
toward over-all planning of activi-
ties—but they failed to reach, the
entire membership of the order.

SITE FOR TILE BBYO picnic
scheduled for June 26 has been
changed from Belle Isle to Pon-
tiac State park. Lunches must be
packed by the individual mem-
bers. The council will supply soft
drinks. Swimming, boating and
baseball will comprise the bulk of
the picnic activity.
The AZA all-star game will
highlight the afternoon's program.
Each AZA group will offer their
best player for the team. A bon-
fire with community singing will
complete the day's activity. Earl
Scrap is committee chairman.

ON JUNE 22 AZA 656 will hold
its installlation of officers in con-
junction with an affair designed
to introduce the organization to
the parents. Norm Shapiro is
chairman of the vent.
As of June 8, the National
League baseball standing find 661

and 63 sharing the top spot, each
with four victories and no de-
feats. The American League has
three teams unbeaten in four
starts. They are 112, 527 and
656 . . . Remember—all captains
must report their scores by call-
ing TO 8-5690 or the games will
be forfeited.
As the final meeting' for the
summer, chapters 735 and 527 had
a volley ball and baseball con-'
test. Earl Remer and Dave Stul-
berg helped 735 win the first
volley ball game but 527 came
back to take the second. The
baseball game ended in a score-
less tie.
