Teen-Age
'Sophisticates

By HELEN TENNENBAUM
HUNDREDS OF you are busily
preparing for that all-impor-
tant day when you will be con-
firmed or consecrated. This is the
climax to years of study Of your
people, your re- • --
ligion and your
ideals.
As the Torah
is lifted from its
shelter, you will
pray reverently
to God who has
given you this
opportunity o f
living in a free
country and
worshiping
Ilelen
whom you please.
.However, there should be more
than mere formalities on this day.
We hope that you realize that this
is an important stepping-stone in
your lives whereby you are con-
sidered more than a child, where-
by the world considers you young
men and women who with God's
help are ready to take their
places and assume responsibili-
ties to mankind, in liuilding a
better world for yourselves, your
neighbors and your children.
Perhaps it would not hurt us to
offer a prayer of thanks to God
for letting Israel belong to the
Jews once more, and perhaps we
could also. ask for guidance in the
difficult, all-important job of con-
tributing our energy to a world
which will let the Star of Peace
shine undisturbed by hatred, wars
and prejudices . .
