Friday, April 29, 1949 DETROIT JEWISH CHRONICLE STRICTLY CONFIDENTIAL Page Three German Exhibit in N. Y. Speeds RE -Nazificatio . n By PHINEAS J. BIRON THE GERMAN Industrial Fair in New York under auspices of the American Military Government provided official evidence of Gen. Clay's RE-Nazi- fication policy. The daily press tried to present the fair as goodwill promotion for friendly relations between the peoples of Germany and the United States. And for this rea- son it held back information about the Nazi background of a large por- tion of the personnel and the ex- hibitors. For instance, the press did not make a point of telling its readers that our Military Government in Ger- many had selected Peter Pixis, Hit- ler's chief organizer of Nazi propa- ganda fairs abroad, for the job in America. Pixis' specialty during the war consisted in setting up propa- ganda exhibits in enemy countries, slated fur conquest.' At the present time arrangements are being made ' to take the fair to Milwaukee, Chicago, Pittsburgh and Buffalo. Robert Bradford, a member of the staff of the Non- Secterian Anti-Nazi League, the organization which exposed the Nazi underlining of the fair, commented as follows: "The delegates to the recent Cultural and Scientific Conference for World Peace were not al- lowed to stay long or to leave New York, but it seems that the 300-oda German businessmen, many of them well known Nazis, may travel about the United States looking for orders." It is indeed strange. • • • BRITAIN IS QUIETLY reviving the Bernadotte plan. It is no longer referred to as the Bernadotte plan of course, nor is it exclusively pushed by Great Britain.
